In reference to the letter from Christina Georges (“China is not our friend,” April 16 Readers Write), I agree with the writer’s premise … China is not our friend.

But remember, President Trump said that he and Xi Jinping, president of the People’s Republic of China, are friends with a great relationship.

Remember, President Trump defended China’s handling of the virus, while he was telling the American people he had it under control and there was nothing to worry about. This is what we were told from mid-January through the month of February. We have lost over 40,000 Americans in six weeks’ time.

Again, I agree with the writer when it comes to the American companies that are based in China. They are shameful. Instead of employing American workers, they opt for cheaper labor instead of paying liveable wages here. Again, profit over people.
