Letter: On banning Muslims

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Somewhere within all of the politically correct/incorrect banter involving Donald Trump’s comment about imposing a temporary ban on Muslim immigration, it would be instructive to acknowledge that radical Muslims selectively choose verses of the Quran to justify their terrorist efforts.

These verses are quite explicit and include warfare against enemies, the conduct of military expeditions and even the distribution of the spoils of war. I refer to 

Q 4:89, Q 9:36 and the authority most often cited for jihad, the Verse of the Sword, Q 9:5.

One need not be a theology major to note the extreme conflicts posed by Islam to the tenets of Christianity, western law and civilization.
