Yesterday my second great-grandchild was born; his name is Chance and I have been pondering about his chance for success in our nation.

For years we’ve said to the Liberty Bell “let freedom ring.” The recent Supreme Court decisions, the Black Life Matters movement, now joined by the rainbow diversity of the majority of U.S. citizens, the coronavirus killing over 117,000 citizens with a disproportionate number of minorities dying and an administration that seems to represent the Old South of yesteryear has brought about a perfect storm for change to happen. Now is the time to “let freedom ring” with thoughtful and fair solutions.

The crux of the issue is that love should be more powerful than hate. We teach about the oneness of mankind in our houses of worships yet we don’t always internalize this teaching in our hearts.
