Like many cult leaders, Trump believes his own lies. Despite America having one of the world’s highest standards of living, Trump believes America is a victim of many enemies, foreign and domestic. Trump also believed, and still believes, that enemies stole his 2020 election, despite virtually every other official, including Trump’s own Attorney General, holding that the election was one of the most secure in history. Most troubling, however, Trump believes he is the only one who can save America from these imagined enemies.
Believing his own lies helps Trump to be very persuasive. I, for one, will not drink the poisonous brew that embraces foreign and domestic enemies. Such consumption has led many a nation (for example, Nazi Germany) to disaster.
