Editor, Gazette-Journal: Those of us residents in the York District should be thankful for Elisa Nelson’s presence on the school board. For the last four years, she has been a voice of reason and sanity in an emotional jungle. Unlike her opponent, who has no experience with GCPS, she graduated from GCPS, went on to obtain her professional insurer certification and, for the past 24 years has owned and run a local insurance agency. She has been the parent of two daughters who have also graduated from GCPS and are themselves currently attending university. During their years in GCPS, she was active in the PTA and many school events. She is currently the vice chairperson of the school board. She is also serving as the GCPS representative to the New Horizons Regional Education Center and was recently elected vice chairperson of that board.
