He should resign.Other mass shootings in Virginia resulted in the establishment of investigative commissions to analyze the crime. Miyares was in the House of Delegates and co-sponsored the bill creating a commission to investigate the Virginia Beach Mass Shooting in 2019.He knows the value of an investigative commission in uncovering the truth versus a “report” that simply chronicles what happened. So why did Miyares’s office hire a law firm for nearly $1.2 million to write a “report” on the UVA tragedy?Virginia has a sovereign immunity law capping the most the sovereign (the state of Virginia) can be sued for at $100,000.
