Letter: Medical Reserve Corps volunteers appreciated

The Three Rivers Health District and Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps want to thank our MRC volunteers for their continued and dedicated services to help protect the health of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. They are a major asset to the local health department offices and community.

The Medical Reserve Corps was created to organize the use of medical and community volunteers during a disaster and to support Public Health. Since 2008 local volunteers have given of their time and talents right here at home. They have helped to educate elementary school students on the harmful effects of tobacco use, supported local shelters during hurricanes, given flu vaccinations to hundreds of community members, and have provided many hours assisting the community to prepare for disasters.
