Letter: MCPS seeks career advisors

Mathews County Public Schools is seeking volunteers from the local business community to serve as career advisors on the Career and Technology Education Advisory Committee. The primary purpose of the committee is to assist and advise administrators, guidance counselors, faculty, and the local school board to ensure the CTE curriculum meets the needs of prospective employers.

Some of the ways in which career advisors serve the school system are: recommending and reviewing course offerings, reviewing state-mandated task lists, acting as guest speakers or instructors, advising teachers on current skills needed in the work force, advising the committee on current trends in their respective industry.

Current needs of the committee are advisors in the following areas: engineering, industrial manufacturing, video & media technology, computer science, early childhood education, carpentry, business law, marketing, automotive technology, health occupations, nursin...
