Editor, Gazette-Journal: Mathews County is a small, wonderful place to live. We are a community of caring people. If someone is sick, neighbors arrive with food and offers to help. The same if there is a death. We thrive together, work together and care for one another. Sound principles, basic values and good character were shown us by our parents and teachers. Being raised in one of our local churches, the teachings of Christ were a base for many of us. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We heard and practiced these teachings today. Strong leaders care for all people. They lift them up. They respect the rule of law. Yesterday, Jan. 24th, a man was murdered on the streets of Minnesota as he lay face down on the concrete.
