Editor, Gazette-Journal:

After reading Barbara Sampson’s letter to the editor in the Feb. 3rd edition, “Logo doesn’t represent county as a whole,” I couldn’t agree with her more. As Mrs. Sampson points out, Mathews has so much to offer, too much to be represented by a large blue “X.” 

I’m sorry to say it reminds me of the poison warning on house cleaning products. Why not use our lighthouse, a child fishing from a pier or someone walking their dog or riding a bike on one of our beautiful county roads or perhaps one of our beaches? There are just too many inviting images that come to mind when one thinks of Mathews to settle for such an uninviting logo.
