I am writing to encourage Mathews County residents to come join us for our Fall Community Roadside Clean Up this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. We all love this county we proudly call home, but unfortunately litter and debris have been a persistent problem along our roadsides marring our beautiful landscape.

This will be a fun day of stewardship, teamwork and community building starting at 8 a.m. at Mathews County Visitor and Information Center (MCVIC), where we will gather for coffee, hot chocolate and donuts as well as distribute supplies, clean-up assignments and free tickets for door prize giveaways.

Then get out and clean up for as long as you can and meet back at Visitors Center for a free pizza lunch by noon courtesy of Island Stop Market and Deli. We will then draw for door prizes to include: A gift certificate for a 1.5-hour East River/oyster cruise from Mathews Deadrise Charters; free kayak or SUP board rentals for four from Chesapeake Bay Paddling ...
