Letter: Market Days Committee chairman crossed a line

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Mathews Market Days Committee Chairman Art Dubey needs to resign from his post as chairman of that organization and apologize to the citizens of Mathews County, especially to sheriff’s candidate Mark Barrick.

His comments regarding Barrick were unnecessary and unprofessional. Using Dubey’s logic, those vendors not located at the Court House area were not part of Mathews Market Days. Many citizens do not agree with Mr. Dubey in his political opinions as is obvious by the number of signs supporting Barrick around the county. Furthermore, Mathews Market Days is not the proper place to express those opinions and for Mr. Dubey to use his position as chairman to express these opinions is unacceptable. Mr. Dubey, I really do not care whom you support; I do care where and how you express that support.
