Letter: Many hands had a part in bike tour

On behalf of the Tour de Chesapeake, I would like to thank the many volunteers and organizations who took part in this 14th annual event.

The Gwynn’s Island Civic League, Mathews Rotary Club, Mathews Maritime Foundation, Wade Brooks and Boy Scout Troop 124 put together fabulous rest stops for the cyclists! Nelda Gibbs, Gary Farr, Emmaus Baptist Church, White Dog Inn, The Cake Man and Westville Christian Church made sure the participants and volunteers were well fed all weekend!

Carolyn and Mike August, the Lefdovers, and the cast and band of Donk’s Theater, Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry, entertained them; Kat Sharp massaged them; the sheriff’s office staff, our rescue squad, and members of the Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club kept them safe and cycling smoothly; the Mathews Film Society, Chesapeake Board Sports, the Poddery, MAG Gallery, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Made in Mathews Artists, Bay Country Kayaking, and Mathews Fre...
