Letter: Making Saturdays special

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Pat and I have lived in Mathews for about 13 years. We have made many friends and have really enjoyed our life here. I love to go downtown, on Saturday morning during the warmer months. We go to the farmers’ market and just generally walk around poking our noses into the various establishments. What I enjoy most is talking to all of the friends and neighbors that we meet on the streets. It is really pleasant living in a small but vibrant town like our Mathews. I tried to write a poem about how I feel.

To Mathews on a Saturday morning

to see what there is for sale.

We go to the farmers’ market

at the old courthouse in front of the jail

 

We find the new bakery open

and check out the fresh bread and sweets.

We know they are all delicious

as are all the rest of their treats

 

Next we enter the Bay School

and check out the wonderful art.
