Letter: Making Gloucester great

Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism had our Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Saturday at the T.C. Walker Educational Center. An estimated 185 people attended. Congratulations to all of the winners, especially Volunteers of the Year Denise Rhea Carter, Susan Walton and Pauline Reimold.

VRPS awards went to Faye Garris, Robin Hilling, Rich Burlingame, Marvin Spencer and Amanda Symonds. New Volunteer of the Year went to Elisabeth Wilkins and Fawna Wilcox. The Youth Excellence Awards were received by Preston Settle and John Moore. The Monte Haskell Hustle Club Award was given to the Gloucester Baystars FC and the Abingdon Ruritans received the John Hartman STAR award.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all of the wonderful volunteers that make Gloucester great. Parks, Recreation and Tourism has the best volunteers you could possibly have. You mean everything to us and the community. Every one of you should be proud of what you do. I know we are proud of you.
