Letter: Making a painful situation bearable

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I would like to give a shout out to some unsung heroes in my opinion. Seven months ago, my family had to open our home to hospice care for my husband, Gerald. It was with heavy hearts that we accepted their care, but we came to appreciate not only their expert care but their love, patience and sincere dedication.

At first, my husband resisted their help but soon his attitude changed, and he looked forward to their care and visits. Angela and Brenda went above and beyond and took a painful situation and made it bearable. It is with sincere appreciation for the hard work that they do on a daily basis and make it seem effortless. To these women a patient isn’t a number or case but a family member. Thank you for all that you do.

With love,

JoAnn JonesCardinal, Va.
