Letter: Local support for law enforcement humbling

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

With the recent events which have shaken communities to the core and the hateful, undermining rhetoric being spewed at law enforcement, it is humbling to have the support of so many in this community. As a result of the recent events in Dallas and now in Baton Rouge, my office has received endless gestures of support.

The many phone calls, the cards, flowers, food and drink, brought to the sheriff’s office over the past week, have meant so much to our entire staff. In the midst of a busy day to have a mother and her children take the time to stop by to say “thanks” and drop off goodies or a gentleman in our county vacationing to do the same because he felt the need, has surely strengthened our resolve and been good for our soul.

To each of you who took the time to include us in your thoughts and prayers we would like to extend our greatest appreciation for all you have done. To our entire community, know we will continue to bear the torch, ...
