Editor, Gazette-Journal:

In my opinion, phase two of the streets in Mathews Court House, from Hyco Corner to the Food Lion, should not be done.

The street will be narrowed to 26 feet at bump-outs and when cars are parked in this area, the width will be 26 feet. This will make it hard for farmers and loggers to take their equipment to the southern part of the county, as I understand that a combine is 25 feet wide. This will also make a hardship for vendors.

We have to live with what has already been done, so let’s not make things worse.
