Letter: Let’s meet in the middle

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I usually save my spoken opinions to be said within my own home, because it appears to be safer these days. Recently though, I feel I need to say something about gun control and new laws, etc. People who are intelligent and knowledgeable concerning present laws and restrictions make, what I feel, is a large mistake when wanting and demanding laws against having and owning guns.

If every law-abiding citizen gave up their guns, do you honestly believe that those who choose to disobey laws will do the same? The answer is no, they will not.

I agree on certain issues regarding the need for assault weapons and how many clips are too many, but just the basic concern of thinking of doing away with guns to facilitate the halt of killings and maiming, I totally disagree with. Ask any number of inmates or certain teenagers if they could get their hands on a gun illegally if they wanted to, they will say yes. If, even with guns in our possession, people are shot and kil...
