Letter: Lest we forget

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

In his email of Sept 30, 2020 titled “Working for You …” which was a piece on supporting gun rights, Rob Witt-man said, “As a gun owner and dedicated supporter of the second amendment, I am committed to defending our Constitution and” …“I support the rights awarded to us by the Founding Fathers, and will continue to do all I can to preserve and protect the Constitution.”

Reading this, one would believe that he supports the Constitution, not just parts that he happens to like or wants to tell constituents about, but the whole thing. However, his recent support of the amicus brief for Texas Attorney General Paxton’s suit clearly calls that into question.

Some constituents might want Donald Trump as President irrespective of the vote counts. But, very few of them have so strongly supported the Constitution in writing and have sworn allegiance to it as required to hold Congressional office.
