Letter: Leadership in school system questionable

The Superintendent of Gloucester County Public Schools (GCPS), Dr. Ben Kiser, introduced the proposal to close Thomas C. Walker Elementary School at the Jan. 26 school board budget work session. Since Dr. Kiser’s introduction of that proposal, questions about the performance of personnel in top leadership roles in GCPS have surfaced. The public has not been given a clear explanation of the proposal to close T.C. Walker Elementary School. There has been no consistency in the thought process and terminology used during the budget sessions and monthly meetings in reference to the proposal to close the school. The superintendent of schools and the school board members have used the terms close and repurpose in their attempts to persuade the public that T.C.
