Letter: Kindness from a friend

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

My husband Durward Anderson had to go to Gloucester Tuesday for a medical procedure so Monday we decided to go for a trial run down our long lane to make sure we could get out.

We made out fine until we got to the end and all of a sudden we came to an abrupt halt. After many futile attempts of spinning wheels we realized a shovel and a hoe were in order. Snow is heavier than it looks and the work was quite a task.

All of a sudden a truck pulled up and a nice man got out with a bigger shovel and more muscle. He not only got us out but he continued to level the big mound of snow so we could get in and out easier.

This young man was Mr. Billy Cook who owns the Mathews car wash business. He saved the day for us and he was so kind and pleasant … another reason why Mathews is such a wonderful place to live. Thank you, Billy, for your kindness ... you are our hero.
