Letter: Keeping us connected

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I want to express my deep gratitude for the Gazette-Journal. In a time when major newspapers are disappearing daily, we are so fortunate to still have our stalwart local paper.

It has been our main means of communication when we’ve been without power after hurricanes. Now, most of us still have power, but very few community connections. Many have no human contact, except perhaps our dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteers.

The Gazette-Journal reminds us of ongoing businesses needing support and positive actions being taken by residents. It also lets us know of those we’ve lost.

At this time, more than any other, our local newspaper is vital to our citizens. Thank you to all of the staff for keeping us connected even while we’re at a distance.
