Letter: Keeping Gloucester clean

The Clean Community Committee and I want to thank the citizens of Gloucester for their turnout on Clean Gloucester Day. In spite of the weather, more than 685 of you (the largest number we have ever had) picked up more than 18.94 tons in 856 bags of litter. Special thanks to the following groups who picked up the most bags of litter: Abingdon Ruritan Club (88 bags), Shack Hunt Club (53 bags), Gloucester County Jail inmates (51 bags) and Holly Beach Civic Association (40 bags).

We would also like to thank the businesses that posted our flyers in their office windows and on their e-signs: Brandon and Kyle of All Season Lawn and Tree (for providing dump truck services), Waste Management (for providing their collection bins), the VDOT team of Kevin Sears (superintendent), Brandon Williams (supervisor), James Chapman II (crew leader), Billy Butler, Frankie Hancock, Matthew Horne, Darryl Horsley, Jerry Jenkins, Edward Miller, Brian Rowe, Keith Townsend and Julius W...
