I am writing in support of Mike Jenkins, a candidate for the Petsworth District seat on the Gloucester Board of Supervisors. Mike has always been involved in his community wherever he has lived. He served on the King and Queen County Planning Commission, was a volunteer fireman, worked with the West Point Jaycees and the King and Queen/Essex Crime Solvers.
Since moving to Gloucester over 20 years ago, he has devoted countless hours to the Gloucester County Parks and Recreation Department as a volunteer coach; he has also been involved with the Friends of the Dragon Run, and the Rappahannock Area Heath Education Center Board. Mike was appointed to and later elected twice to the Gloucester County School Board. From this position, he has invaluable experience as to school operations and can share insight into the good, bad and perhaps the not so pretty of our local schools’ budgets.
