Letter: It hasn’t happened yet

It’s getting close to Election Day now. Let me say that I am proud to note that the campaigns for the seat in the Virginia House of Delegates for our 98th District have not been allowed to get to a point where they mirror other political contests that are full of false accusations and personal attacks. We do however have a rare opportunity to make a change in our leadership in our area.

That is not to say that the incumbent has done nothing for our district during his tenure of three terms as our representative. He has instigated or helped with issues such as bringing broadband to rural areas in our district. But it hasn’t happened yet.

He has worked on a plan to mitigate water runoff by “selling” rights to other districts in the state. To me, the proposal seems like it amounts to skirting environmental preservation legislation that, over time, will cause even more pollution to enter the bay from huge paved commercial areas that will ...
