Letter: Is this freedom or endangerment?

Editor, Gazette-Journal: While we are celebrating the 250th anniversary of our Constitutional government, I am concerned that a document that inspired it is under threat. The Virginia Constitution protects our right to oversee life-changing medical decisions involving our children. It guards existing notification and consent laws and allows us to know if our child is making a decision about abortion or sexual experimentation. However, the proposed Virginia Abortion Amendment on the Nov. 3 ballot goes as far as to grant overriding “reproductive freedom” to “every individual” including minors. Parental rights are erased.
