Letter: Is this best for the children?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

My name is Tara Lord and I am currently a teacher for Gloucester County Public Schools. However, that is not where my story starts because I am also a product of our school system and my child now is part of it as well. 

As a parent, I am infuriated in larger class sizes being an option to reduce the budget. Is that what is best for the children? My daughter will be in kindergarten next school year. One teacher with about 28 students is not even fair. Those children need smaller class sizes to be more successful and for the teacher to be able to provide the best education. Recently I have been even wondering if GCPS is the best place for my daughter. Then I remember the teachers and how much heart they pour into the classrooms.

I teach to the hearts of my 6- and 7-year-olds and build relationships with my class and their families. It has been amazing to me the amount of teachers that are considering a different career path just because of our county not...
