Letter: Is it Russia now?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Clinton Watts, in a PBS interview regarding Russian interference in our electoral process, stated, “The one thing we should know is that Russia did not get in the game to win one election or to put one candidate forward. … the idea was to undermine democracy to make Americans lose confidence in democratic institutions and elected officials by turning every crack in our country into a chasm and pitting different race, ethnic groups, religious groups, socioeconomic groups, second amendment, abortion rights whatever it might be, to where we fight against each other instead of being a unified front ...”

Mr. Watts, Robert A. Fox Fellow in the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Program on the Middle East and Senior Fellow at the Center For Cyber and Homeland Security at The George Washington University, authored “Messing with the Enemy, Surviving a Social Media World of Hackers, Terrorists, Russians and Fake News.”
