Letter: Informing the community

The purpose of the Mathews County Resources Council (MCRC) is to inform, educate and collaborate with community groups to disseminate information that the community “needs” to know.

This past Thursday, Aug. 17, an enthusiastic Superintendent of Schools, Nancy Welch, Ed.S., during her annual presentation to MCRC, shared an overview of the MCPS’s aims for the coming school year.

Mathews County Public Schools is certainly a system to be proud of its academic picture with the DOE report showing full accreditation for each school. At the same time, it is recognized that there are still needs to be met and that is why a partnership with RCC has been forged, the reason that high school courses are offered in the middle school and that the gap in early childhood education is recognized with a plan being developed to reduce that gap and in the long run, a reduction in s...
