Letter: In spite of this, I have faith

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

This letter goes out from me as a citizen, and not as a member of the Board of Supervisors. I am disgusted at what I have seen. My disdain did not just develop with the killing of George Floyd. There have been many prior to him. In this case, we cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that a black man was killed and the killing captured electronically for the entire world to see. Seeing something so horrific should shake our consciousness to the very core. It should make us face realizations that some people have wanted to ignore or did not care about.

We are a nation in crisis and turmoil. I am sick and tired of the bigotry, systemic racism, failed national leadership, and hatefulness. In spite of this, I have faith and I have hope. In spite of the nastiness that I have read on social media, in spite of the evil actions that I see, in spite of the poor leadership and the broken system riddled with inequity and inequality, I trust God and in the words of Sam...
