Letter: In praise of medical professionals

I’m sure a lot of us have seen or heard of the television show “The View.” And I’m sure you may have heard about “The View” mocking the monologue performed by Miss Colorado at the Miss USA pageant about being a nurse. If the show didn’t nauseate you before, it sure did its best to do it that day and it struck a nerve with America. 

This commentary has nothing to do with how I feel about the TV show. This commentary has everything to do with nurses and other members of the medical field.

Recently, it was determined that I needed open heart surgery. After the shock wore off, my wife and I did a lot of research and got a second opinion (an almost equally painful procedure, trust me). We chose Dr. Chiwon Hahn at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. After the surgery, I left ICU 2.5 days later to their Cardiac Stepdown Unit. This is where the magic happened.
