Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I am writing regarding the upcoming decision the Mathews County School Board will make for the renaming of the elementary school. It has already been established; by people who answered the survey, the majority chose Mathews Elementary School. I agree with the majority!
The Gazette-Journal, in its April 29 editorial (“The elementary school name”), logically and eloquently supports the reasoning to rename the school Mathews Elementary.
Our population is small, but we are all proud to identify as Mathews County citizens. This is the prideful heritage we should instill in our children. The name of the county is not going to change. It is my hope that all generations will be proud to say they attended Mathews Elementary School.
