Editor, Gazette-Journal: I grew up in the greatest country in the world. A country that was kind, chose freedom and liberty as the basic foundation of a democracy. Our country reached out to help other countries with food, medicine and volunteers in many areas. A country that represented all that was good in being human. Within a short period of time, that ideal of human decency has been turned upside down and the rest of the world considers us to be imperialists who invade other countries, kidnap their leaders and plunder their oil supplies. What has happened that one man can so easily undo centuries of good will and nation building while Congress allows the checks and balances to be totally bypassed? What happened to leaders who took an oath to defend the Constitution? This is like a nightmare but when we wake up, it’s still going on.
