Editor, Gazette-Journal: It was a profound privilege to gather at the Pocahontas Memorial Service to honor those who have dedicated themselves to preserving our history. We wish to formally recognize and thank our distinguished honorees. We extend our deepest gratitude to Pastor Ronald Gayle for his spiritual leadership and continued dedication to our community. Special recognition is given to members of the Lumbee Tribe, including Gary Booker Sr., and sons, Ben and Gary Jr., for their stewardship of the Pocahontas Gardens. Their care for these Native Plant grounds ensures they remain a beautiful tribute to our shared past. We also recognized Tina Holt of Long & Foster and ReNaye Dame of Gloucester Realty for their invaluable support and contributions to the gardens.
