Letter: Honoring sacrifice of military families

On April 10th, the American Legion Auxiliary Gloucester Unit #75 held a “Military Child Appreciation Day,” to support the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy “Month of the Military Child.” This was an opportunity to recognize and applaud military families and their children for the daily sacrifices they make, and challenges that they overcome.

The drive-thru event, organized by our vice president Nannette Adams, included eight stations including games with prizes, sweets and treats, a drink station, gift bag stations, and vehicles, trinkets and safety information from both the Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office. Participants were greeted by and sent off with cheers from the Gloucester High School cheerleaders.
