Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to make my remarks on Oct. 12 at the gathering to commemorate the restoration of the lighthouse. I’d like to do that now.

“On behalf of our dear friend Earl Soles and all those who worked on this project, I now light the lantern in New Point Comfort Lighthouse.”
