Letter: Higginbotham’s service will be missed

I’d like to add my appreciation for the many years of outstanding service to Mathews citizens provided by Nancy Higginbotham, recently retired from the Commissioner of the Revenue office.

I moved to Mathews some years ago from Northern Virginia, where the standard reply to a request for anything in a local government office was "I’m sorry, but …" My first problem I brought to Ms. Higginbotham was met, not only with a positive response, but she sat there and corrected my submission on the spot. Over the years, I’ve had many such experiences with her. She is a loss to Mathews; would we had more like her.
