Letter: Higginbotham’s service will be missed

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I’d like to add my appreciation for the many years of outstanding service to Mathews citizens provided by Nancy Higginbotham, recently retired from the Commissioner of the Revenue office.

I moved to Mathews some years ago from Northern Virginia, where the standard reply to a request for anything in a local government office was "I’m sorry, but …" My first problem I brought to Ms. Higginbotham was met, not only with a positive response, but she sat there and corrected my submission on the spot. Over the years, I’ve had many such experiences with her. She is a loss to Mathews; would we had more like her.
