Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Our democracy is at risk. This next election could affect our ability to maintain our democracy, as we know it. As citizens today, we have a challenge right in front of us. Every member of Congress must believe in the sanctity of the Constitution and have faith in our elections.

Currently running in the 1st District of Virginia is an incumbent Congressman, who does not believe in either. Rob Wittman signed on to an amicus brief filed with the Supreme Court in 2020 seeking to invalidate the slate of electors from four states, and further, after the insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, he tried to nullify the Pennsylvania vote.

He is running in a very red district and likely to win, again. I hope he does not. We simply cannot rely on his judgment. When character counted, he failed the test. I would urge my Republican friends to consider the alternative, Herb Jones. He was a leader in the military, serving 30 years in the Army. He started his own business. He h...
