Letter: Hear me out!

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

As a mother of children in the Mathews County Public Schools, a MCPS substitute teacher, a Mathews County taxpayer, and a friend of the Mathews Education Association, I am very concerned about the future of the Mathews County Schools.

During this season of budget preparation by both the Mathews County Public Schools and the Mathews Board of Supervisors, it has been brought to my attention that the majority of supervisors will neither hear any suggestions on how to fully fund public education nor make it a county priority.

Mrs. Nancy Welch, Superintendent of MCPS, and other community organizations presented their requests for funding to the Board of Supervisors at last Thursday’s budget session.
