Letter: He has served the community well

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

My name is William Turner and I am currently incarcerated at Haynesville Correctional Center. I am writing in hopes that you will recognize one of my family members in your next edition.

He has been in the Gloucester public school system since 1980, a total of 40 years. He has served his community well in the capacity of a teacher and a coach at Peasley Middle School. His name is Henry Holmes, better known as Coach Holmes. He has taught families in the Gloucester community from mothers and fathers and their kids.

Now the time has come for Coach Holmes to retire. He probably would have stayed longer if not for COVID-19. It has been a long and productive ride. I am so proud of Coach Holmes and the residents of Gloucester should be as well.We all can say goodbye to a good teacher and even a better person.
