Letter: Happy memories of Tri-County Furniture

As another chapter of Gloucester’s History comes to an end I want to say thank you to Tri-County Furniture for their years of dedication and service to their customers here and around the state.

We discovered them before we moved into our house 45 years ago after we had decided on a type of furniture we liked. It was beautiful cherry or later mahogany wood pieces that were not Henkel Harris price but good quality for the money. The company was called Crescent. We found several stores in Newport News that sold it but no one had the stock Tri-County did.

As you approached the top of those long stairs to the second floor it became quite obvious you were not leaving without buying something from that line, and most of the time we did! The second floor had other company items but the Crescent pieces took up most of the massive open space much to our delight.
