Letter: Happy Birthday and Semper Fi

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

At this time of year, we approach with open hearts the many awaited holidays of Thanksgiving, those associated with Jesus Christ’s birth and the New Year.

However, before these are celebrated, we who have served from Nov. 10, 1775 to the present day are proud to celebrate the 242nd birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.

I know that this area bore one of the finest Marines in Maj. Gen. Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller, USMC, who rests in eternal peace at Christ Church, Middlesex.

As one who has proudly served with the finest and most deeply patriotic men and women who called themselves “Marine,” I salute all and extend a Happy Birthday and Semper Fi.
