Letter: Gloucester deserves better

It is up to parents to protect their children.

As a parent, I agree completely that protecting our children is one of our top responsibilities. This basic expectation starts once a child is brought into the world. I believe protecting our children starts with setting high standards of personal behavior, individual accountability and respect for other people.

I also believe it’s preparing our children to work well with others in a diverse and ever-changing community. Our children should reflect our best family standards and possess the skills to navigate people and situations of differing viewpoints. One can agree to disagree without being disagreeable.

An important aspect to protecting our children enrolled in the public educational system is to reach out, engage and seek accurate information from those teachers and administrators who work with our children each school day.
