Letter: Gillespie for U.S. Senate

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Senator Warner has stated he supports the Keystone XL Oil Pipeline from Canada to Texas. Why then did he vote against the Senate Bill S1813 which also required U.S. workers and iron and steel be used to build the pipeline? I called Senator Warner’s office in D.C. and asked one of his supervisors why he voted against this bill?  She said “I don’t know.”  I requested she ascertain why. It has been over two years and I am still waiting for a reply.

Senator Warner also voted against a bid to offset $6.9 billion in disaster aid (HJ Res 66) by cutting foreign aid and other overseas programs by that amount. These funds were earmarked to help our citizens recover from the storm that devastated New Jersey.
