Letter: Gillespie for U.S. Senate

In our society, life is valued. Acts of kindness, freely given and received, is a Judeo-Christian value. Caring for others personally is stressed. When we delegate this care to the government, we neglect individual responsibility, we don’t exercise an educated vote—or worse, when we are deceived by elected officials—we get the mess we are in.

Since Mark Warner has voted 97 percent of the time with President Obama, we should replace them both. Their social agenda is taking a terrible toll on our freedoms, our survival as a nation and our economic independence. I am referring to the massive defense cuts made to expand the social programs intended to support those who are not U.S. citizens.

Our government has cut our military so severely that radical Islamic terrorists have been allowed to strengthen. Make no mistake; they want to eliminate those they consider infidels from the face of the earth. The money from our defense budget has been move...
