Letter: Gibbs for school board

The following is a response to a question in last week’s letter to the editor concerning the record of “the other school board candidate,” Dr. Marianne Gibbs.

Prior articles/letters in this paper have spoken to Dr. Gibbs’s extensive training and experience in the field of education. A dancer and gymnast as a young person, she leaned toward a career in some branch of the healing arts and found occupational therapy (master’s degree) to be a good fit, given her athletic interests.

Working with young children in the area of fine motor skills and writing readiness became her passion. Early on, she developed a training program for this work, which was first used in a school district in Texas and now impacts hundreds of school districts throughout the U.S. and Canada.
