Letter: Getting Williams Wharf back on track

The Mathews Land Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that owns, manages and provides to the public the land and facilities at historic Williams Wharf on the East River. In recent months, the organization has been involved in a process of evaluation and assessment of its plan and strategies for fulfilling its mission for the community.

This mission includes providing public access to the waterfront for small watercraft, and promoting environmentally friendly activities and education that stimulate economic benefits to Mathews County, while preserving local history and culture. In January, the board began to work with a respected consultant who is familiar with our community and other nonprofits in the region to assist in this process of evaluation.
