Letter: Generosity of spirit

Editor, Gazette-Journal: On behalf of the Board of Directors of GUEST (Gloucester United Emergency Shelter Team), I want to extend our thanks and appreciation to the many volunteers and church congregations who generously gave of their time and energy to this year’s Winter Shelter, which began in December 2025 and concluded on Monday, March 16. During this period, 51 individuals from across the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck of Virginia were served. Each week, a different church congregation hosted the shelter, providing individuals without a home a warm place to sleep and a dinner meal. In addition to the Winter Shelter, GUEST operates a Day Shelter throughout the year for people experiencing homelessness. This facility allows our guests to access meals, take showers, wash clothes, or simply escape extreme weather conditions.
