What a model of cooperation and coordination. Mathews County’s first responders spoke to the Gwynn’s Island Civic League last week to inform them of their plan for the two eight-hour bridge closures on Sunday, Feb. 26 and on Tuesday, March 7.
Each department outlined a plan that connected to the strategies of every other department or agency, including VDOT. With a clearly detailed operation covering every possible situation, the citizens of Gwynn’s Island should feel assured that all will be well those two nights. The scheduling of fire and rescue members and their equipment to be both on the island and on the mainland has been accomplished. Other departments and agencies and their equipment are scheduled to be on stand-by, if needed. Thanks for showing us how so many groups can work together successfully to create such a master plan.
Many thanks to Willie Love, Emergency Services Coordinator; Scott Bergman, MVRS President; Donnie Lewis, MVFD Preside...
